Online shopping is a fairly new experience. Let me attempt to give you a short history of online shopping. Then I will mention a new store you should be aware of.
A Brief History
Online shopping has not aways been with us. We used to have only the option of jumping in our car and going to a brick-and-mortar store to purchase things. We had to do that or go without. And very few women went without.
Then in the late 1970’s things began to change. Around 1979 an English inventor named Mihael Aldron developed a system called Teleshopping.
It was basically a transaction-processing computer hooked to a modified television via a telephone line.
For those of us who remember far enough back to the TRS series that Radio Shack sold, we get some idea of what that was like. A good idea and a good start.
But the internet it was not. We needed a way to do ecommerce. And we found a way. There was AOL and Genie and Prodigy. But there were also creators/ dreamers. In 1994 Jeff Bezo founded something called Amazon. Online shopping could begin.
